The "McBeth Cottonwood" is one of the giants along the Red River and is approximately 160 years old. The property has historical significance; McBeth House was built in 1912-1913 and was designated as a Heritage House in 1985.

Home to Alexander McBeath (later McBeth), the McBeth family occupied this river lot for approximately 200 years beginning around 1810. Prior to the building of the current house, the family had a farm, a store, and a log cabin on the property. The sprawling grassy grounds and mature trees are some of the defining features of this heritage property.
